Zhixiao Xiong
Victory belongs to the most tenacious.

I’m Zhixiao Xiong (熊至潇), a PhD student in Operations Research at IEOR department, UC Berkeley (starting in 2025), co‑advised by Prof. Ying Cui and Prof. Huiwen Jia.
Previously, I completed a dual degree—B.S. in Mathematics and Physics and B.Eng. in Industrial Engineering—at Weiyang College, Tsinghua University. In Fall 2023, I spent a semester at the University of Toronto, working with Prof. Chi‑Guhn Lee in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.
My research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and optimization, including machine learning for optimization, guided diffusion processes, stochastic optimization under heavy‑tailed noise, zeroth‑order methods, and nonsmooth optimization.
I enjoy programming in Python, C/C++, Rust, and Julia. Outside of research, you’ll find me on the tennis court or skiing.
